Our History
Our History Since 1850
Throughout Crescent's history, three constants have defined the company.
First, a people-centric approach has always been at the heart of its operations. Second, a commitment to creative change has been ingrained in its culture, driving innovation and adaptability. Finally, over the last three centuries, members of the Taylor family have systematically refined and perfected best practices in customer service, ensuring Crescent’s lasting success.
1850 - 1979
The business officially started in 1850, with John Rex Taylor identified as a “boss teamster,” eleven years prior the Civil War. It established the Taylor Drayage company, which specialized in transporting books and meats for major American western packers such as Rath Packing, Wilson & Company, John Morrell, and Dubuque.
1980 - 2012
The fifth generation came into the business, Chris Taylor, and Crescent was born, becoming a Premier Service Provider while providing opportunities for all of Crescent’s People to grow and develop to meet their desired potential.
1980 - 2012
Crescent architects the Crescent Way of doing business, a methodology to guarantee high-quality service performance by aligning the 3Ps of Purpose, Process, and People.
2013 to Present
Crescent continues to build on its legacy by adopting innovative tools and strengthening industry partnerships. Guided by The Crescent Way—aligning Purpose, Process, and People—the company delivers tailored solutions with a focus on continuous improvement, sustainability, and service excellence.
