INNOVATING FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

Crescent ESG

Environmental Stewardship is Our Core Responsibility

We believe environmental stewardship and sustainable operations are key to our customers’ and Crescent’s success. We are motivated to implement sustainability initiatives across our facilities to reduce waste, conserve resources, increase efficiencies, and reduce cost.

Crescent’s Values and Vision promote our core philosophy of leaving things better than we found them, optimizing our resources to efficiently and effectively perform all tasks well. We invest in responsible operations today to protect our planet and our People for generations to come.

Reducing Our Footprint

We aim to continuously shrink our environmental footprint while growing as a company. To reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Crescent instituted programs in 2023 to track our scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions. In addition to capturing and tracking our emissions, in 2024-2025 Crescent will establish Science Based Targets for our GHG emissions, consistent with our continuous improvement service culture. As we grow, Crescent does CDP gap assessment and scoring optimization reviews. We consider the impact of transportation in all of our decision, whether we’re launching new operations or deciding where to source materials.

CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

We continuously seek ways to improve energy efficiency across our operations. By upgrading to high-efficiency equipment, optimizing processes, and embracing renewables, we aim to substantially reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Our goal is to minimize our impact while delivering innovative products and services

IMPLEMENT SUSTAINABLE PROCUREMENT PRACTICES AND USE ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIALS

We implement sustainable procurement standards that consider environmental and social factors. Our products are designed using eco-friendly materials, processes and packaging. We partner with suppliers who share our commitment to responsible sourcing and manufacturing.

The integrity of what we create is just as important as its function.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO DRIVE MEANINGFUL PROGRESS ON CRITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

The health of our planet is bigger than any one company. That's why we actively engage with organizations in our community to drive meaningful progress on critical environmental issues. Through volunteering, advocacy and sharing best practices, we can catalyze positive change. Our hope is to inspire others to join us in this all-important work.

Crescent’s ESG Strategy is the direct outcome of the Voice of our Customer and the Voice of our People surveys. It is thoughtfully aligned with Crescent’s Vision of cultivating a community focused on growing our People to provide a path forward for our customers, strengthening their competitive advantage.

Decarbonization & Sustainable Water Management Initiative

In response to increasing environmental challenges and the need for sustainable practices, our organization is launching a comprehensive Decarbonization and Sustainable Water Management Initiative. This initiative aims to significantly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and optimize our water usage to align with global sustainability goals. By addressing both carbon emissions and water management, we seek to enhance our operational efficiency, meet regulatory requirements, and contribute positively to the environment. Our goal is to establish a robust framework that will guide us in achieving substantial reductions in our environmental footprint while setting a benchmark for industry best practices.

Revolutionizing Skincare Packaging with Sustainable

Blister Packs

Success Story

Client Overview:

A leading skincare brand known for its commitment to both high-quality products and environmental responsibility sought an innovative packaging solution that would align with their sustainability goals while maintaining product integrity and enhancing brand visibility.

Challenge:

The client’s existing packaging was robust but not environmentally friendly. They wanted to reduce their carbon footprint, decrease material usage, and improve shelf visibility without compromising the protective qualities of their packaging. The key objectives were:

  • Reduce Packaging Material: Achieve significant material reduction to align with sustainability goals.

  • Enhance Brand Presentation: Maintain or improve the visual appeal of the packaging.

  • Ensure Compatibility: The new packaging needed to be compatible with their existing production processes.

Solution:

We developed a fully sustainable blister pack specifically tailored for the client’s skincare line. The packaging solution incorporated the following features:

  • Sustainable Design: The new blister packs utilized a trapped paper design, with an SBS paperboard tray sandwiched between two E-Flute corrugated blister cards. This design minimized the use of plastic, contributing significantly to the reduction of environmental impact.

  • Material Efficiency: By optimizing the design, we were able to reduce the overall packaging material by 60% compared to the previous design. This drastic reduction was achieved without compromising the packaging’s protective qualities.

  • Standard Heat Seal Compatibility: The blister packs were designed to be sealed using standard heat seal blister equipment, such as Alloyd machines. This ensured that the client could transition to the new packaging without the need for costly equipment upgrades.

  • Customizable Branding: The full billboard front card allowed for vibrant, high-quality printing, enhancing brand visibility on retail shelves. Various window and die-cut options were offered to showcase the product effectively.

  • Versatile Merchandising: The new packaging was designed to fit seamlessly into stackable club trays and other merchandising formats, including pegging, providing flexibility in how the products were displayed.

Impact:

The implementation of our sustainable blister packs delivered significant benefits:

  • Material Reduction: The packaging material was reduced by 60%, leading to lower production costs and a substantial decrease in the environmental footprint.

  • Cost Savings: The reduction in material usage and the efficiency of the new design translated into cost savings for the client, enhancing profitability while supporting their sustainability initiatives.

  • Enhanced Shelf Presence: The customizable design options allowed the client to maintain a strong brand presence on the shelves, which was crucial for attracting customers in the competitive skincare market.

  • Sustainability Goals Achieved: The client successfully aligned their packaging with their environmental values, enhancing their reputation as a brand committed to sustainability.

By partnering with us, the skincare brand not only met but exceeded their sustainability goals. The transition to fully sustainable blister packs not only reduced packaging waste by 60% but also reinforced the brand’s commitment to environmental responsibility. This case study demonstrates the power of innovative packaging solutions in driving both business success and positive environmental impact.
